Residential Services

Carolina House Trust provides individual packages of care tailored to the complex needs of young people requiring residential care. We actively encourage all involved in the care provision of the young people, including the young people themselves to participate in the development of the care services we provide.

The Trust is committed to promoting high standards of residential care to looked after young people within its units. All staff work within the framework of the Scottish Social Services Council’s, “Codes of Practice” and the Care Commission’s, National Care Standards, “Care Homes for Children and Young People”.

The Trust is committed to working within the foundation of the Scottish Governments recently published guidance paper “These Are Our Bairns”, which promotes the role of good corporate parenting through providing interlinked services from start of placement to leaving the care system. All our staff are enhanced disclosure checked and undertake induction training to familiarise themselves with the policies and procedures employed by the Trust within all residential units. Ongoing training is offered to all staff on a planned basis.

Carolina House Trust has three residential units based in Fife which are staffed 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Star of Markinch has two one bedded units staffed on a two to one basis. Tarvit Cottage, Nr Cupar has two one bedded units, one staffed on a two to one basis and the other on a one to one basis. Stratheden Court, Nr Cupar is the base for our Support for Independence service and is a one to one single living environment.

All the units have been upgraded in recent months and provide a high standard of living in a caring environment. Recently the units have undertaken their annual inspection by the Care Commission and have been commended by care commission officers on the high standards of care provided.
